Portfield School located in Haverfordwest, was a dedicated school for children with learning and physical impairment.
This was the first school in Pembrokeshire to have a Combined Heat and power (CHP) unit installed alongside the more standard gas boiler heating system.
The CHP unit is essentially a gas fired car engine. As the engine runs it produces electricity that the school can use to power computers, TV’s, lights etc; and the cooling (radiator) system feeds hot water in to the heating circuits and therapy pool.
